Parapet Slabs

During the construction of facilities such as multi-storey buildings, bridges over rivers, or embankments, parapet slabs are essential. They serve two important functions: firstly, as protective barriers, and secondly, as elements of decorative finishing. Most often, parapet slabs are made of concrete. The grade of concrete may vary, so when producing such a product, it is important to consider not only where it will be used but also the climatic conditions of the region.

It is important to note that the rigidity of the slabs is ensured by a reinforcing mesh. Hot-rolled steel or ribbed wire is used as reinforcement. The wire must be of high quality only. Some reinforcement elements may protrude outward — for example, when it comes to mounting fixtures. In this case, they must be covered with anti-corrosion coating.

PP 13-5 parapet slabs are reinforced concrete building components with equal length and width, having a specific shape designed for constructing service entrances to public buildings made of brick. The shape of the parapet slab is rectangular, with a non-symmetrical cross-section and rounded edges on the front surface. They differ from standard reinforced concrete slabs by having a sloped structure for water drainage to one side.
