A product of this size requires a significant volume of concrete, which is why, for example, the FBS 24.4.6 foundation block weighs approximately 1300 kg. Naturally, loading and installation are carried out using construction equipment. For this purpose, lifting loops are provided at the top of the blocks.

FBS blocks have a specific labeling system that consists of a set of letters and numbers. For instance, the marking FBS 24-6-6T stands for a solid foundation block with a length of 2400 mm, width of 600 mm, and height of 600 mm. The letter “T” indicates that the block is made of heavy concrete.

A block-based foundation is ideal for construction on dry, dense soil. Proper preparation of the site, trenching, and layout marking is essential. Although heavy machinery is generally required for transporting and placing the blocks, the process is often more cost-effective in terms of time, labor, and sometimes even finances. Depending on the calculated load, blocks are not always laid end-to-end — they are often installed with spacing between them, which reduces the overall quantity needed.

FBS blocks can be installed in several ways:

In dense soil, blocks are laid directly into the trench on top of a gravel-sand base, with staggered joints between the rows. The gaps between blocks are filled with concrete, which reduces the number of blocks used. This method is suitable only for stable ground.

In loose soil, a concrete foundation pad is first placed, followed by the FBS blocks. The pad enhances the structure's load-bearing capacity and helps prevent shifts or tilting.

Blocks can also be installed on a monolithic concrete strip. The structure may be reinforced with a concrete belt — rebar mesh is laid in the center of the wall and topped with a monolithic concrete layer. This creates a combined foundation suitable for heavy buildings, basements, and deep foundation levels.

For lightweight structures (wooden or frame houses), a strip foundation can be formed using small-format blocks. In this case, it is recommended to include a reinforced belt for added stability.
